Capitalism always reaches this stage eventually. The west is so proud of how Capitalism beat out communism as the economic system of choice. But, ya know, with most things it's not the polarized choice that serves best. Compromise and movement towards the center just seems the natural way towards getting the best system for all.
The west has had too great a backlash against other economic systems and, to some extent, has hindered their development. Like when USSR ran out of money in the arms race with the USA. But look at China's mix of capitalism and communism. Not to say that all the Chinese are jackin each other off round the campfire while singing Kumbaya. But China's development over the last couple of decades has been astounding. Meanwhile, N Korea, steeped in conservative communism, is near ruin. And Europe and USA, steeped in conservative capitalism are on the skids. Economic systems need to be integrated, not segregated. There is good and bad in all of them. The world needs to glean the best of all of them.
